Here is my much awaited visit to Humayun's tomb, was literally dumbfounded with its massive beauty.
The magnificent tomb
Built by Hamida Begum in 1565, the widow of Humayun, is the first example of Mughal architecture in India. It is also the first garden-tomb on indian subcontinent. This has inspired the construction of Taj Mahal built a century later.

The two storied mausoleum has the grave of the emperor on the basement floor, with nearly a hundred graves of members of the Royal family in the corner chambers.
You can see several other monuments adjoining the main tomb. Prominent among them is Isa Khan's tomb and mosque. Isa Khan Niyazi was an Afghan noble in Sher Shah Suri's court.
